About
the Foundation:
The
Thalia Mara Arts International Foundation was formed in 1991
by Thalia Mara. Ms. Mara’s mission is to utilize her more than 70 years
as a professional classical arts dancer, performer, director, choreographer,
and educator on behalf of future generations.
Mission
Statement:
The Mission of the Thalia Mara Arts International Foundation is to preserve,
nurture, and advance the education, understanding and love of the arts
in all their manifestations, and in particular, to promote the importance
of classical arts in education as a vehicle for integrating fundamental
ideas and values of integrity and morality into present day society.
"The
arts: performing, visual, design, film, media, literary and language,
are of vital importance to the future of civilization. They tell the
story of our history and light the way into our future. Our children
are that future. The arts are their vehicle for embracing the future
and ours to create a better way for them."
- Thalia Mara
Please
join Ms. Mara in her vision to bring the best that classical arts has
to offer to Mississippi’s children and educational institutions. Your
tax deductable contribution will help to ensure the future of arts education
in Mississippi.
The
Thalia Mara Arts International Foundation is a not for profit
organization dedicated to Arts Education. In 1999, the Foundation began
production of the "WORLD PERFORMANCE SERIES," an Annual Series that
brings world-class theatrical performers and performances to Jackson.
As part of their appearance in Jackson, the majority of these artists
contribute an educational component, generally in the form of a "Lecture
Demonstration" or a "Master Class."
